Walk and Talk Therapy

Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

A gentle, movement‑based approach to counselling that helps you feel grounded, clear, and connected.

Walk and Talk Therapy combines traditional counselling with the calming benefits of being outdoors. Instead of sitting in an office or on a screen, we walk at a comfortable pace while exploring the thoughts, emotions, and challenges you’re navigating. Many people find that moving their body helps them feel more open, less pressured, and better able to express what’s been weighing on them.

This approach is ideal for those who feel restless in traditional sessions, prefer a more natural setting, or simply find it easier to talk while moving.

Why Walk and Talk Therapy?

Walking side‑by‑side can make conversations feel more relaxed and less intimidating. The natural rhythm of movement often helps reduce stress, ease anxiety, and support clearer thinking. Being outdoors can also help you feel more grounded and connected to your body, making it easier to explore emotions and build insight.

Walk and Talk Therapy can support you with:

  • Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm
  • Anger and frustration
  • Low mood or depression
  • Men’s mental health concerns
  • Emotional regulation
  • Life transitions
  • Feeling stuck or disconnected

What Sessions Look Like

Sessions take place on a mutually agreed‑upon walking route in the Dartmouth area. We walk at a pace that feels comfortable for you—this is not exercise‑focused, and there’s no pressure to move quickly. The goal is to create a calm, steady environment where you can talk openly and feel supported.

If at any point you prefer to pause, sit, or slow down, we adjust. The session is always guided by your comfort and needs.

Privacy and Comfort

Your privacy is important. We choose routes that offer space and quiet, and if someone passes by, we simply pause the conversation until it feels appropriate to continue. You’re always in control of what you share and when.

Weather and Accessibility

Walk and Talk sessions are weather‑dependent. If conditions aren’t ideal, we can easily switch to a virtual session for that day. This flexibility ensures you always have access to support, no matter the forecast.

If walking isn’t accessible or comfortable for you, we can adapt the session to include seated outdoor options or continue with traditional virtual counselling.

A Flexible Alternative to Traditional Counselling

Walk and Talk Therapy is a great option if you:

  • Feel more comfortable outdoors
  • Prefer movement over sitting still
  • Want a less formal counselling experience
  • Find nature grounding or calming
  • Want to try a different approach to therapy

It’s a gentle, supportive way to explore what’s going on inside while benefiting from the natural ease that comes with being outdoors.
